COST & COMMITMENT

We are not in need of fair weather searchers. We need people who are willing to commit to the group.

Search and rescue requires a time commitment not only for searches, but for training, fundraising events, prevention programs and administration.  It also requires a substantial financial investment ($125 for the BSAR course and $50 membership, a compass, a uniform requirement and, possibly, some personal outdoor equipment).

We view this like it’s a hobby. Almost any hobby has costs involved. If you are a golfer, for example, you spend money on equipment, transportation, clothing, greens fees and perhaps a club membership. We invest in outdoor equipment, GPSs, radios, uniforms, and transportation to be searchers.
