KEY DATES
Your next opportunity to take the Basic Search and Rescue Course will be in Fall 2012. Here are the key dates you would need:
Tuesday, October 2, 2012 – Information evening – (attendance recommended but not compulsory) the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about SG1 and the BSAR course – if you are not sure, this is the place to get answers. Time: 1900-2100 Location: 911 Institute, La Cité collégiale, 801 Aviation Parkway (building on the north side of the U turn at the end of the main entrance off Aviation Parkway) Signs will direct you to the right room.
October 20 and 21– Tentative BSAR Fall Class Weekend 1 (*attendance compulsory for new recruits) – course runs 0800 to 1700 Location: 911 Institute, La Cité collégiale, 801 Aviation Parkway (building on the north side of the U turn at the end of the main entrance off Aviation Parkway)
Tuesday, October 30– BSAR Policy Evening (*attendance compulsory for new recruits) – specifics of how SG1 operates and a look at the equipment we use
November 3 and 4 – Tentative BSAR Fall Class Weekend 2 (*attendance compulsory for new recruits) – note: Nov 3 would be a field test day so you will be in class 0800-1400 and in the field 1330-2100
Sunday, November 25 – SAREX (*attendance compulsory for new recruits) – SAREX is a full team mock search exercise where the only thing you will know is the date. It is as much like a real search as we can make it
* Compulsory dates – sorry, but it just doesn’t work to have partly trained members on searches. We cover a lot of material very quickly and we rely on each other so the training is critical. It’s like you not wanting your surgeon to have skipped any classes.
