2012-016 December 2012. Gatineau Park, QC. 5 missing snowshoers contact 911 to report they are lost. SG1 responds with the assistance of Chelsea Fire, NCC and Gatineau Park ski patrollers. Cell phone data provided by the missing party provides location and members of SG1 locate the subjects and guide them out of the woods. 154 searcher hours. Tasking Agency MRC des Collines Police.

 

2012-015  December 2012. Gatineau Park, QC. 2 missing snowshoers are located by off-duty SG1 team member and friend but are unable to evacuate persons to safety. SG1 is tasked to locate and recover subjects. SG1 is assisted by members of Chelsea Fire, NCC, and paramedics. Subjects are located and assessed by paramedic. One subject is walked out by members of SG1 while the second is airlifted to safety by SQ SARTechs and helicopter. 130 searcher hours.  Tasking Agency MRC des Collines Police.

 

2012-014 December 2012. Portland, ON. Missing elderly male. Ontario Provincial Police launch an immediate search during snow storm to locate missing person. Rideau SAR is tasked by OPP to assist. As per new protocols amongst Eastern Ontario teams, SG1 is placed on Green Alert by Rideau SAR to provide mutual aid. Subject located by members of OPP and Rideau SAR. SG1 stood down.

 

2012-013 December 2012. Amherst, QC. Missing person. Surete du Quebec requests immediate assistance specifically with mechanized search capability (ATV’s) and ground search team members are placed on Green Alert and then Yellow Alert. 3.5 searcher hours. Team stood down as subject located.

 

2012-012 November 2012. Quyon, QC. Hunters reported by families as overdue. SG1 members locate the hunters and guide them out of the woods. 81 searcher hours. Tasking agency MRC des Collines Police.

 

2012-011  October 2012. L’Ange Gardien, QC. An abandoned vehicle touches off a search for the out of province driver who is despondent. SG1 members assist SQ K9 teams to search area. Subject located deceased. SG1 members assist with the evacuation of the subject. 288 searcher hours. Tasking agency MRC des Collines Police and MSP.

 

2012-010 October 2012. Pontiac, QC. Off-duty members of SG1 encounter an elderly man wandering aimlessly in a trailhead parking lot who had become separated from his companion. Members of SG1 reunited the pair and search efforts by NCC were called off. 16 searcher hours.

 

2012-009 September 2012. Papineau-Labelle QC. Missing person. Team placed on Green Alert by Surete du Quebec. As the team was moved to red alert and beginning to respond the subject was located and SG1 was stood down.

 

2012-008 September 2012. Quyon, QC. Missing person. Subject located while team enroute. Tasking agency MRC des Collines Police.

 

2012 – 007 September 2012. Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, QC. Team placed on Green Alert by Surete du Quebec and eventually stood down.

 

2012 – 006 August 2012.  Vals des Monts, QC. Missing despondent. Search area defined and subject located by SQ K9 team. Subject was evacuated from wooded hillside to medical team and medical aid provided until ambulance arrived. 208 searcher hours. Tasking agency MRC des Collines Police.

 

2012-004 July 2012. Coteau-du-lac, QC. Missing male. Subject located. 216 searcher hours. Tasking agency MSP/Québec Provincial Police (SQ).

 

2012-003 May 2012. Lac Brule, QC. Missing adult female camper. Subjects located by SG1 search team approximately 7 hours after arrival on-scene. SG1 Incident Management, Ground Search, ATV, Airborne Search and K9 teams tasked. 234 searcher hours. Tasking agency MRC des Collines Police.

 

2012-002 May 2011 White Lake, ON. Missing elderly male. Multi-day search. Subject located deceased by joint SG1 and OPP search team. 430 searcher hours. Tasking agency Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

 

2012-001 January 2012 L’Ange-Gardien, QC. Missing male. Multi-day search. Search suspended pending additional investigation. Subject located deceased by hikers 3 months later. 205 searcher hours. Tasking agency MRC des Collines Police.

 

2011-007 August 2011. Perkins-sur-le-lac, QC. Request from MRC des Collines Police to search for missing male suffering from Alzheimers. Subject located by SG1 members enroute to staging area. Incident concluded. 22 searcher hours.

 

2011-005 June 2011. Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, QC. Request from MRC des Collines Police to assist with search of roadways for despondent male. Incident concluded. 108 searcher hours.

 

2011-004 June 2011. Britannia Park, Ottawa, ON. While packing up from working a fundraising event, SG1 was approached by a female who reported her husband overdue from windsurfing. She was advised to call 911. While Ottawa Police and Fire were responding, SG1 members initiated a hasty search along the rivers edge to try and spot the missing male. Incident concluded. 5 searcher hours.
